The Carribean wilderness will dazzle you on this day trip to La Jalda waterfall, widely considered one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Dominican Republic.
Tour Options
At the time of booking, you can choose between two different tour options. Both include pickup at the Atabey Hotel in Miches, roundtrip transportation, a guided hike through the Dominican jungle and lunch by the waterfall.
Below, you can see the details of each tour:
La Jalda Waterfall Day Trip (9 hours)
We'll pick you up at the indicated time, at the Atabey Hotel in Miches, and from this coastal town, we'll hit the road and head towards the community of La Loma.
Once we arrive at this beautiful lush location, we'll embark on a breathtaking hike through the Dominican jungle. During the trek through the forest, we'll get the chance to see a wide variety of tropical plants, among which orchids stand out. We'll also see several cacao and coffee plantations.
After a 2-hour hike, we'll arrive at Salto de La Jalda, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Dominican Republic. Once we get to this magnificent waterfall, that reaches a height of over 120 meters (400 feet), you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool at its base. The crystal-clear waters come from the Northern Cordillera, one of the main mountain ranges in the north of the country.
We'll take a break next to the waterfall for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we'll walk back to the community of La Loma, where we'll enjoy a traditional homemade fruit wine. You can also opt for water or a soft drink, which we'll accompany with chocolate and sweet and salty cookies.
From La Loma, we'll head back to the Hotel Atabey de Miches, where we'll arrive 9 hours later.
La Jalda Waterfall + Montaña Redonda Day Trip (10.5 hours)
If you choose this tour, we'll follow the same itinerary described above to the community of La Loma. However, at the end of the hike, instead of returning directly to Miches, we'll go to Montaña Redonda, only 30 minutes away.
We'll climb to the top to enjoy an unforgettable sunset. From the top, you'll be able to admire the panoramic views of the bay of Samana, the green landscapes of the jungle and the ocean on the horizon. You'll also have time to take pictures on the iconic swings and hammocks, a perfect end to the day!
After an hour at Montaña Redonda, we'll start our return to Miches, arriving approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes later.
