We'll meet at the time of your choice at the main gate of Hacienda Esmeralda, a cacao farm in San Francisco de Macoris. A fascinating tour awaits!
After being greeted with a delicious cup of hot chocolate upon arrival, we'll go on a tour of the cacao farm to learn about the process of planting, extraction and cutting. Then, we'll discover the fermentation and drying steps for further processing.
As we walk through this Dominican farm, we'll learn why this product is so important in the local culture. Did you know that the Maya and Aztecs already knew about the properties of cacao in ancient times?
During the tour, we'll also visit the hacienda's store to check out the extraction and crushing of the seeds. Then, we'll put the finishing touch on the tour with a chocolate workshop, where we'll get to choose a mold to create our own figure, an unforgettable souvenir! After a two-hour visit, the experience will come to an end.
If you want to complete your experience, you can choose the option that includes a typical lunch at Hacienda Esmeralda. Lunch will be buffet-style and will include water or soft drinks and coffee. If you are a large group, you can choose the menu that includes a grilled potato and vegetable salad, Yucatan rice, chicken breast in mushroom sauce and ripe plantain cake.
