Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Hotel Altos de Caño Hondo lobby. From this hotel, located on the outskirts of the Sabana de la Mar, we'll take a 10-minute drive to the Caño Hondo pier.
At the pier, we'll begin our 2-hour boat ride through the Los Haitises National Park. On this lovely ride, we'll sail through the mangroves of this protected natural area and the San Lorenzo Bay. We'll continue our journey along the Cayo de Los Pájaros and the old Pier La Perla.
Afterward, we'll continue our boat ride visiting the La Arena Cave and La Línea Cave, two remarkable grottos adorned with paintings and petroglyphs from indigenous civilizations. After exploring these caverns, we'll return to the boat and start our journey back to the Caño Hondo pier.
Once we arrive, we'll head back to the Hotel Altos de Caño Hondo, where you'll rest and enjoy a delicious Criollan lunch. The menu includes green salad, potato salad, minutas de pescado (small, seasoned fish fillets, breaded and fried), chicharrón de pollo (chicken cracklings), pasta, white rice, string beans, moro de gandules con coco (traditional Dominican dish of rice, beans, and coconut milk), and a sweet coconut treat for dessert. Beverages include mineral water, a soft drink, or coffee with milk.
After lunch, you can rest at the hotel's terrace. You'll also have 4 hours of free time to enjoy the 14 natural pools with waterfalls in Caño Hondo!
The tour will conclude at the natural pools of Hotel Altos de Caño Hondo after a total of 8 hours.
