Discover one of the Dominican Republic’s most important natural areas on this quad and kayak day trip through Los Haitises National Park. It’s the perfect way to explore the mangroves of the Samaná Peninsula!
At the indicated time, we’ll meet at the Santorino restaurant, near Samaná's main port, where we’ll begin a fun experience exploring Los Haitises National Park, one of the most remarkable protected natural areas in the Dominican Republic.
To start, we’ll board a ferry that will take us to Sabana de la Mar. After an hour-long ride, we’ll reach the mainland and begin one of the most exciting moments of the day. Ready to drive a quad into Los Haitises National Park? We’ll hop onto these vehicles and enjoy the stunning landscapes that define the region as we ride through them.
The route will take us to the Caño Hondo port, where we’ll find natural pools surrounded by mangroves inhabited by countless birds, such as pelicans and frigatebirds. From this spot, we’ll begin exploring the park through the waters of the Caño Hondo River. To do so, we’ll get into kayaks and paddle through the mangroves. It’ll be the perfect moment to connect with nature!
After two hours of kayaking, we’ll return to the port and head to a local restaurant to recharge with a delicious traditional Dominican lunch in the heart of nature.
With renewed energy, you’ll then have an hour and a half of free time to swim and relax in the natural pools of Caño Hondo. You can also take advantage of this moment to explore the surrounding trails and continue enjoying this beautiful corner of the Samaná Peninsula.
Finally, we’ll get back on the quads and return to Sabana de la Mar, where we’ll board the ferry once again to travel back to Samaná. After a total of nine hours, we’ll say goodbye at the starting point.
