On this strawberry farm tour in Constanza, we'll visit a local farm in the valley of the Dominican Central Cordillera. Strawberries and juice included!
Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the central pavilion of Anacaona Park. From there, we'll take a short drive to a strawberry farm on the outskirts of Constanza.
Upon arrival, we'll be greeted by the farmworkers, who will introduce us to the world of strawberry cultivation in this region of the Central Cordillera of the Dominican Republic. We'll take a walking tour among the rows of strawberry fields as we begin to learn about the varieties that grow in this valley.
In addition to learning about the techniques to keep the crops healthy and sweet, we'll learn why this mountainous region is ideal for growing this particular fruit that requires a mild climate. Did you know that a single strawberry plant can produce berries for three months at a time? If we take the tour in season, we'll get to try our hand at picking freshly grown strawberries, choosing the ripest and juiciest ones.
We'll also witness the process of soil preparation, irrigation, and temperature control to achieve the best quality. At the end of the tour, we'll sip a fresh strawberry juice made on the spot. The best part? We get our own package of fresh strawberries to savor at home!
Finally, after 3 hours, we'll say goodbye at the initial meeting point.
