Fasten your harness and crampons and join us on this ice climbing and hiking activity on the Sólheimajökull glacier – a unique and thrilling experience!
Solheimajokull Ice Climbing & Glacier Hike
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the glacier parking lot to start this ice climbing and hiking experience on the Sólheimajökull glacier. Welcome to the south of Iceland!
Once introductions have been made, we'll begin a 30-minute hiking route to the glacier. During the hike, we'll tell you interesting facts about these colossal ice formations.
When we reach the foot of Sólheimajökull, we'll put on the necessary equipment and explain to you the basics of ice climbing. Then, we'll start climbing up the walls and crevasses of the glacier. Let the adventure begin!
The ice cap that we'll climb sits on the mighty Katla volcano, one of the largest and most active craters in Iceland. Have you ever climbed so close to a volcano before? And, if we're lucky and the day is clear, we'll be able to see Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that stopped European air traffic in 2010 when its eruption filled the sky with ash.
After ice climbing, we'll hike back to the meeting point, where we'll arrive about 4 hours after the start of the activity.
