Let yourself be captivated by the majesty of marine wildlife in the Dominican Republic with this humpback whale watching experience. We’ll sail through Samaná Bay to see these incredible sea animals emerge from the water.
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Punta Cana and begin one of the most popular activities in the north of the Dominican Republic. Ready to spot whales? Let’s go!
To do this, we’ll take a 1.5-hour road trip to Miches, one of the best areas in the country for spotting humpback whales and enjoying the marine life that comes to Samaná Bay to mate and give birth in its warm waters. Once at the dock, we’ll board a boat and sail to the Whale Sanctuary, where we’ll spend 2.5 hours observing these majestic mammals.
During the trip, we’ll learn all about humpback whales as we watch them emerge from the water, swim, and perform acrobatics. It’s a true natural spectacle! The best time for whale watching is during January and February, when most humpback whales gather in Samaná Bay.
The guide on board will share some of the most interesting facts about these animals, such as their mating rituals, the characteristics of their songs, and even how they breathe.
Finally, we’ll sail back to the dock in Miches and take you back to your hotel in Punta Cana with your camera full of photos. We’ll say our goodbyes there after a total of 5 hours.
Whale Watching
Miches is a strategic location for spotting whales and dolphins. However, animals are unpredictable. The number of sightings will depend on various factors, such as weather conditions or breeding and calving seasons.
