Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Port Douglas and set off toward Cattana. Ready to discover the nature of northern Australia? Let's go!
After approximately 1 hour, we'll reach the Cattana Wetlands, where we'll walk among a palm tree forest and the serene Jabiru Lake. During the walk, you'll learn about the native species that inhabit this unique ecosystem.
Our next stop will take us to the majestic Barron Falls, known locally as Din Din. Here, a guide from the Aboriginal village of Djabugay will share different spiritual and cultural stories.
At lunchtime, we'll go to Skybury, a historical coffee plantation that's also famous for being the main producer of papayas in Australia. We'll enjoy a delicious lunch inspired by local products, accompanied by notes of fresh papaya. After lunch, you'll be able to relax with a cup of coffee while admiring the incredible views of the Tablelands.
The tour will continue toward Emerald Creek Ice Creamery, where you'll have the chance to taste four ice cream flavors made in this charming agricultural haven in Tablelands.
Then, depending on your choice, we'll board either the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or the Scenic Railway. If you choose the cableway, you'll soar over a spectacular tropical rainforest declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, take in panoramic views of Barron Falls from the famous The Edge lookout, and learn about local biodiversity at the Rainforest Interpretation Centre. If you opt for the Scenic Railway, you'll travel one of the most picturesque rail routes in the world, passing through hand-carved tunnels and over bridges spanning breathtaking gorges.
Finally, a bus will be waiting for us to return to Port Douglas. After 10 hours, we'll say our goodbyes back at your hotel.
