Visit one of Iceland's best beaches on our Raudasandur Day Trip from Patreksfjördur. You'll travel through breathtaking Icelandic scenery and walk along Raudasandur's famous red sand.
Raudasandur Day Trip
We'll meet at 9 am at Þórsgata 8a in Patreksfjördur and drive south to one of Iceland's most fascinating beaches, Raudasandur. During the 30 minute journey, you'll be able to see fantastic views of the Patreksfjördur fjord from the minibus.
As soon as you see Raudasandur, you'll understand why it's so famous. Its name means "red sand", as it has over 6 miles (10 kilometres) of reddish-coloured sand that draws in many visitors. You'll be able to stroll around the beach and admire the contrast of the red sand against the surrounding black cliffs.
If it's a clear day, you'll be able to see the Snæfellsjökull glacier in the distance. We also might be able to see lots of the seal families that live on the beach - we're sure you'll love the adorable sight of them sunbathing with their pups!
After visiting the beach and learning about its history, we'll return to the starting point and finish our day trip at around 2 pm.
