On this visit to the Monte Alto farm, we'll discover why Jarabacoa is known as the coffee capital of the Dominican Republic. Prepare your taste buds!
Tour Details
Fancy trying some authentic Dominican coffee? After we pick you up from your hotel in Jarabacoa, we’ll head to the western edge of the city to visit the Monte Alto coffee farm, a true symbol of the region.
Here, in the heart of Jarabacoa, we'll discover how the temperate climate, volcanic soil, and morning mist create the perfect conditions for growing intensely aromatic coffee beans. Did you know Jarabacoa is considered the coffee capital of the Dominican Republic?
Upon arrival, we’ll start a 1-hour tour where we’ll reveal the secrets of coffee cultivation. You’ll learn about hand-picking, pulping, and drying methods that have been passed down through generations.
We'll see how the beans are roasted to perfection, releasing notes of cocoa and caramel. Did you know that roasting determines more than 80% of a cup’s final flavor? We'll understand how each batch is carefully handled with attention and dedication.
Finally, we'll enjoy a tasting of freshly brewed, strong, and fragrant coffee. We'll savor its acidity and lingering aftertaste, and subtle hints reminiscent of chocolate with a floral touch. A truly exquisite experience!
We'll end the tour by dropping you off at your hotel, lasting approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours.
